About us
Croydon Voices is a warm, welcoming community choir that brings people together through the joy of singing. Open to everyone — from complete beginners to experienced vocalists, the choir is proudly non-auditioned and creates a friendly, supportive space where all voices can be heard. The group meets weekly in Croydon to sing, build confidence and enjoy the shared experience of making music together.
At its heart, Croydon Voices is about connection, creativity and community. Members come not only for the music, but for the friendships, wellbeing benefits and sense of belonging that comes from singing as part of a group.
Croydon Voices is part of the wider Music Ed Croydon family, an organisation dedicated to connecting the community through fun, inclusive and high-quality music-making opportunities for all ages.
The choir is led by Alex James Ellison, a multi-disciplinary musician, performer and producer who trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and previously at the BRIT School. Alongside his work creating concerts and theatre projects and teaching across the UK and internationally, Alex has performed professionally, including appearing in the West End production The Choir of Man.
Alex’s energetic, inclusive approach helps create a rehearsal space that is both high-quality and welcoming, encouraging singers of all backgrounds and experience levels to grow in confidence and enjoy performing together.
Through performances, collaborations and community events, Croydon Voices celebrates the power of singing to bring people together and enrich the cultural life of Croydon.
Whether you are a seasoned vocalist or have never sung before, our choir welcomes all voices and levels of experience. No audition required!

Lives Not Knives
Croydon Voices recorded this special version of ‘Stand By Me’ in memory of Elianne Andam, and to fundraise for the Croydon-based charity, Lives Not Knives in September 2023. A total of £2,193 was raised for LNK.

Christmas at the clapham grand
On 17 December 2025, Croydon Voices joined the Clapham Community Choir’s Grand Christmas concert at The Grand (Clapham Grand), performing alongside special guests and a live band in a festive programme of traditional and modern favourites.
